Robot Aids Brain Research

robot_p10xx_01_daa_a472x315Researchers at the University of California at Irvine and San Diego have recently received a joint grant to study how people adapt to change.  To help them study this, they have created a robot named CARL modeled on a rats brain.

UCI scientist Jeffrey Krichmar (Shown on the right) states:

“As the robot navigates the same challenging situations the rats faced, though, we’ll be able to actually see the areas of the simulated human brain being utilized to make decisions and the physical changes taking place.”
