Landmine Diffusing Robot

Landmine BoysStudents from the University of Waterloo have created a robot for defusing landmines.

Richard Yim, the founder and CEO of Landmine Boys, was born in Cambodia and is now attending Waterloo University in Canada as a mechanical engineering student.

Unfortunately Cambodia is home to many unexploded landmines, especially in rural areas.

The robot they created uses steam to melt the TNT and disarm the landmine.

Recently Landmine Boys won the 2016 Norman Esch Capstone Design Awards worth $10,000 and also won won $25,000 in the Velocity Fund Finals.

Landmine Boys hope to have an actual product in Cambodia by early 2017.
